What we do with the information we gather
As a credit broker we electronically pass the information we collect to lenders and other credit brokers who will use it to make an assessment to whether they are able to consider your application further.
Once we have completed this operation and either forwarded you to that lenders/brokers website or advise you that we are unable to help, your data is removed from our systems, this means.
- We do not keep any of your data after we have used it to attempt to find you a loan.
- We do not hold your data for more than 5 minute, after which we do not retain your data on our systems.
What the lenders and brokers that we pass your data do with it.
The lenders and brokers that we pass your data to may do the following in order to find you a loan.
- Search their own databases for details of any previous relationships or interactions with you.
- Search the databases of Credit Reference Agencies (CRA) or Fraud Prevention Agencies (FPA) to assist in their lending decision. You will give an explicit consent to this when you complete the application form, but you should be aware that this will leave a footprint on your credit file. Please see the section ‘Credit Reference Agencies (CRA) and Fraud Prevention Agencies (FPA) – A Concise Guide’
- Assess your application, along with the information collected about you, against their lending criteria.
- Communicate with you by email, SMS or telephone in regards to your application.
- Pass your details to other lenders and brokers to search for a suitable loan for you. These will also use the data as described in this section.
- Help to identify you if you call them.
If a lender agrees to consider your application further and you are transferred to their website, your data will then be managed under their Privacy Policy which you should read and accept before continuing with them.

Credit Reference Agencies (CRA) and Fraud Prevention Agencies (FPA) – A concise guide.
We, (including the other brands we own) and the lenders and brokers we ask to consider your application, may carry out credit and fraud prevention checks with one or more licensed credit reference and fraud prevention agencies. We and they may keep a record of the search. Information held about you by these agencies may be linked to records relating to other people living at the same address or with whom you are financially linked. These records may also be taken into account in credit and fraud prevention checks. Information from your application and payment details of any loans made will be recorded with one or more of these agencies and may be shared with other organisations to help make credit and insurance decisions about you and members of your household with whom you are financially linked and for debt collection and fraud prevention. This includes those who have moved house and who have missed payments. If you provide false or inaccurate information and fraud is suspected, it will be recorded and may be shared with other people and organisations. We, and other credit organisations, may also use technology to detect and prevent fraud.
When a credit check is performed a footprint will appear on your credit file, this can be seen by other lenders and financial organisations. CRA’s provide shared credit information, fraud prevention information, public information including the electoral register.
Where you are financially linked to another person, their data may also be provided by the CRA’s and FPA’s and a footprint left on their file too. You, or they, can apply to the CRA’s to have this financial link removed.
You can obtain from the CRA details of the information they hold on you. Some may make a small charge for this, up to a statutory maximum. Contact details for the 3 main UK CRA’s are:
- CallCredit, Consumer Services Team, PO Box 491, Leeds, LS3 1WZ or call 0870 0601414
- Equifax Ltd, Customer Service Centre, PO Box 10036, Leicester, LE3 4FS or call 0800 014 2955 or 0333 321 4043 or log on to www.equifax.co.uk
